John DeLong enjoys riding his road bicycle, he finds pavement to be an excellent technology that delivers a consistent quality surface. When pavement and a bicycle are combined it allows the perfect place for human powered speed and freedom. John enjoys freedom. With the freedom of speed found while riding a road bike, John explores and travels the world. The road bike has expanded John’s world and possibilities as well as introducing him to many friends and experiences. His racing career has taken him through the national team as well as professional teams.

John works a full-time job at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute as an automotive researcher. John’s work consists of how people use technology in light passenger vehicles. Advanced product testing and evaluation, consumer available preventative safety aids, advancing technology through innovation.
