Italy was the first place where I truly experienced professional cycling in Europe. From the moment I landed in Bologna, I sensed a shift in pace and a distinctive way of life that defines the people of this country. Each person seemed deeply connected to the rich culture that permeates every region, making Italy renowned for its uniqueness. Italy itself feels like a living tradition—a practice of craftsmanship, creativity, and a distinctive approach to life. One of the most celebrated traditions in Italy is cycling. Around every corner, you’re likely to see another rider enjoying the crisp air as they pedal toward their destination, unhurried and fully present in the moment. Whether in the bustling city of Milan, along the serene coast of Rimini, through the rugged mountains of the Dolomites, or amid the historical grandeur of Rome, the sense of tradition and appreciation for the region’s offerings is palpable. Each landscape brings its own unique character, but everywhere, people seem to embrace their surroundings and the lifestyle they are fortunate to live.

When I raced in Italy, this culture, tradition, and way of life came alive on a whole new level. Local riders would make heroic efforts, seizing every opportunity to bask in glory. This commitment—to giving everything in the moment—makes Italian races some of the most authentic and exhilarating in the sport. No matter the team or tactics, an Italian race is unpredictable and electric.

Everyone involved—fans, riders, staff, and spectators—understands the weight and significance of these events in the cycling world. Legends like Marco Pantani, Mario Cipollini, Matteo Trentin, and countless others honed their skills in the crucible of U23 Italian racing. Nearly every major cycling superstar has raced in Italy at some point in their career.

This vibrant culture inspired me to delve deeper into what it means to be Italian. As I traveled through various regions, it became clear that the true strength of Italy lies in its people. It’s their shared dedication to preserving and celebrating their heritage that creates such a warm and inviting atmosphere. Each person carries with them a unique perspective, contributing to the larger tapestry of Italian culture.

I can’t wait to return to Italy next season and immerse myself in its culture once again. I hope to be a part of reflecting the enduring traditions of this incredible country. The chance to participate in such a rich cultural experience is a significant motivator for my 2025 season, and I’m eager to see what adventures lie ahead.
